The question in notebook computers has become, “Does size really matter or is it more important to have a computing machine that allows you to fit all your productivity software and save as many data files as possible on your computing device?” Another question may be whether the smaller dimensions are more worthwhile or if the light-weight portability is the chief issue. I think the availability of different types of laptops these days lets us truly personalize our computers into something that works for us and doesn’t have to be typical for everyone.
The announcement of the state of the art macbookair by Apple has really given us a selection with the size and weight and what kind of computer we drag around with us all the time. At less than 3 pounds and less than an inch thick, we don’t have to strain our muscles every time we pick it up. It has a 13 inch flat panel and a normal keyboard. Tell me where I can get it today! This is the very attribute I have been calling for.
When I first witnessed the advertisement for the MacBook Air with a slim, easy to transport portable computer coming out of that little envelope, small envelope, I was just shocked. Now, that’s the solution I’ve been hunting for. Now it doesn’t have to be a major undertaking to take my portable computer with me any longer! No extra bag that can weigh almost as much as the laptop computer, no more sweating, no longer taking up more room than my suitcase! What a relief!
The never ending question of whether size is relevant is here now and my answer, when it comes to a compact portable notebook computer is a booming, “yes, Yes, YES!” Size does matter and so does weight. For me and my mobile computer smaller is certainly better.
